Vegan Black Bean Barbecue Burgers

These are great for freezing so you always have a quick source for vegan protein.

Vegan Black Bean Barbecue Burgers


  • 3 cups of cooked or canned (drained) black beans
  • 1.5 cups cooked quinoa
  • 2 tbsp tamari or soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp liquid smoke
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp vegetarian Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 flax eggs
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • olive oil


  1. In a large mixing bowl, mash the black beans leaving some in tact. Mix in the rest of the ingredients leaving out the olive oil.
  2. Form into 2" patties and place on a platter. Place them in the freezer for about 10 minutes.
  3. Cook in oil over medium heat in a non-stick pan for about 3-4 minutes on each side. Place on paper towels before serving. Serve with your favorite barbecue sauce.
